Squash teammates TJ Dembinski ’17, Tripp Kaelin ’18, Max Martin ’18, and Jay Losty, ’19 won the Ivy League Championship and National Championship for the 2015-2016 season. Dembinski, who played phenomenally in the No. 2 position throughout the season, was named to the 2015-16 All-Ivy team and elected captain of the Yale team for the 2016-2017 season. AJ Edwards ’17, and Alex Copeland ’19, added to the chapter's trophy shelf as the men's basketball team won the 2016 Ivy League title and advanced to the NCAA tournament for the first time in over 60 years, beating Baylor in the first round, and putting up a good fight against Duke. In his spare time, Nick Helfand '18 runs The Cotacachi Honey Fund, which provides beehives, equipment and training for small scale farmers in Ecuador. The Fund also purchases honey from these farmers at above fair trade prices and sells it in the United States, providing families with a reliable and consistent income source. All profits from sales are reinvested in beekeeping training and infrastructure and for educational scholarships for Ecuadorian children.
